Youth Wasted

“You don’t have to go to Harvard to know the signs of a drug addict”, I was telling my friend the other day.

I was referring to this teenager who was loitering at the bus-stop near our block. He was sloppy with half droopy eyes and sunken cheeks and he was begging for money at the bus-stop. This was not the first time I saw him. The last time he asked money from me was five months ago when I was last in Singapore. I didn’t give him any then and I sure was not going to give him any that day either. I just shook my head when he approached me.

I would have thought someone would have caught him and placed him in a drug rehab facility already!

What a waste of youth I say!
